Trendsetters will all be wearing flat Japanese-inspired sandals and colourful or nude booties in spring and summer next year if the Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion week and the comments of one fashion expert are anything to go by.
Avril Mair, fashion features director of Elle UK, the worlds biggest selling style magazine and largest online network, said that New York was exceptionally colourful this year, with clashing prints, safari and sequins as big trends.
Her comments follow the closure for another year of New York Fashion week, where designers such as Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren, Rodarte, Proenza Schouler and Phillip Lim showcased their spring/summer 2010 collections.
Other emerging trends include “very short shorts, the colour red, nude jersey dresses and American classics: khakis, chinos,” stated Ms Mair.
This news comes after an article on Vogue.com recently reported that reworked American sportswear, movie star glamour and Wild West inspirations all graced the catwalk at the event.
